Site East-facing hillside, overlooking a family farm
Design Orienting the house perpendicular to the slope allows for the separation of the property into a public, arrival side on the North and a private, garden side to the South, both with views of the fields.
Using common, humble materials, asphalt shingles and vinyl siding, it manages, with the help of ornamental swags and fluted square columns, to evoke a degree of elegance.
This house is the first Passive House in Vermont, the first modular Passive House in the United States, and the first Habitat for Humanity Passive House.
