South Coast House

Modular construction and a performance envelope yielded a sustainable building and shortened construction time.

In the tradition of New England farmhouses that evolve over time, we added wings which extend the house into the landscape and include a new living room, studio, and an indoor “endless pool.”

This house wraps around two levels of courtyards on one side and looks out over salt marshes to the sound on the other. Its deeply insulated 12” thick walls and roof conserve energy, and heat recovery ventilation ensures a constant cycle of fresh air.
