Description
Bay Cottage consists of a four-bedroom house, which we renovated and enlarged, a new two-bedroom guest house, and a new pool. The changes were at the same time comprehensive and subtle. Much is different, but someone who knew the house before would still recognize it.

Design
The house was gutted and given new systems and new windows. Before, there were several types of windows, including two-over-two and six-over-one double-hungs which we replaced with all two-over-two windows. We enlarged the water-side living room windows and created a wide opening with folding glass doors between the kitchen and waterside porch. New windows, insulation, and HVAC equipment improved the energy efficiency of the house. Existing solar panels were saved and reinstalled on the roof.
